Armstrong County Clerk of Courts Office
The Clerk of Courts is the criminal clerk for Armstrong County Court of Common Pleas records. Armstrong County combines the official office page with the Prothonotary under Annette Bowser, but Pennsylvania's split terminology still matters. The Prothonotary handles civil Court of Common Pleas files. The Clerk of Courts handles criminal case filings, criminal docket records, pleas, sentencing orders, costs, fines, restitution records, and criminal case documents that are not restricted by policy or court order.
The office is in Suite 103 at the Armstrong County Courthouse. The official Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts page gives phone (724) 548-3252. The county contact list also gives (724) 548-3251 and fax (724) 548-3351. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., with the office closed from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.

Armstrong County Criminal Clerk Records
The Clerk of Courts file is the courthouse record for criminal Common Pleas matters. A public docket may show a case caption, docket number, filing date, charges, pleas, motions, hearings, disposition, sentencing, and financial entries. The clerk's record can also include documents that are not fully viewable through a public docket sheet. Common examples include filed informations, plea paperwork, sentencing sheets, court orders, costs, restitution, and probation entries where public access is allowed.
Lower-level criminal and summary matters may begin before a Magisterial District Judge. Those dockets often show preliminary arraignment, complaint, preliminary hearing, summary citation, bail or warrant activity, and a lower-court disposition. If a case is bound over or otherwise docketed in Common Pleas, the criminal Common Pleas file becomes part of the Clerk of Courts record set. Traffic citations and summary matters may remain at the Magisterial District Court level unless they become more serious criminal cases.
- Criminal case filings in the Court of Common Pleas.
- Plea paperwork, orders, sentencing sheets, and disposition records.
- Costs, fines, restitution, and public financial entries.
- Bench warrant events and bail changes when shown on public criminal dockets.
- Criminal documents available for public release under court policy.
Search Armstrong County Criminal Dockets
Primary online docket access is the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System case search. UJS public docket sheets let users search, view, and print docket sheets for Criminal Courts of Common Pleas and Magisterial District Courts. For Armstrong County, use Criminal Courts of Common Pleas for felony and misdemeanor cases that reached Common Pleas, and use Magisterial District Courts for lower-court complaints, preliminary hearings, citations, landlord-tenant cases, and small claims.
UJS is not the same as a criminal-history background check. The Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History system, or PATCH, is a Pennsylvania State Police criminal-history request portal. PATCH may be appropriate when a person needs a state criminal-history response, while UJS is used to read court docket sheets. The law governing dissemination of criminal history record information appears in 18 Pa.C.S. § 9121. A court docket and a PSP criminal-history result can differ in scope, format, and update path.

| PATCH | State criminal-history background checks through Pennsylvania State Police. | Not the same as the Clerk of Courts case file. |

Armstrong County Criminal Request Fields
A criminal court record request should identify the case with as much precision as possible. UJS docket sheets may provide the docket number, OTN, complaint number, filing date, case status, charges, plea, disposition, and sentence entries. Those details help the Clerk of Courts distinguish people with similar names and determine which document is being requested. Secure docket sheets and some accounting or pre-sentence materials are not public-facing.
| Request Field | Required | Criminal Clerk Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Docket number | If known | Common Pleas criminal docket numbers commonly use CP-03-CR-number-year. |
| Defendant name | Yes | Use full name and aliases shown on public docket if known. |
| OTN or complaint number | Helpful | Useful for matching arrest-to-court records and lower-court complaints. |
| Document needed | Yes | Examples: sentencing order, plea paperwork, docket sheet, costs record, or certified copy. |
| Case date or charge | Helpful | Use filing date, offense date, or charge summary to narrow the search. |

Request Armstrong County Criminal Copies
Certified criminal copies come from the Clerk of Courts because that office maintains the criminal Common Pleas file. A certified sentencing order, plea document, docket entry, or cost record may be needed for another court, licensing matter, supervision issue, immigration question, employment process, or personal correction request. The research does not provide a specific certified-copy amount for criminal documents, so callers should ask Suite 103 for the current fee before mailing payment or making a special trip.
- Search UJS first if the docket number, OTN, charge, or filing date is not known.
- Confirm whether the case is a Common Pleas criminal file or a Magisterial District Court docket.
- Contact the Clerk of Courts with the docket number, defendant name, document type, and copy type.
- Ask for current copy, certification, and mailing costs before sending payment.
- Check the received copy for the docket number, court name, charge, disposition, and certification.
The local Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts office page is the manifest image source for the combined Suite 103 office.
The same county office page supports both civil and criminal clerk functions, but a criminal records request should be framed for the Clerk of Courts side of the office.
Armstrong County Clerk Fees and Limits
The assigned research gives public-record fee facts from UJS but does not capture a full Armstrong County criminal copy fee schedule. It does identify UJS financial-record photocopies at $0.15 per page for 11 or more pages and UJS financial-record CDs at $5 each. For criminal case copies, certified sentencing orders, or clerk-stamped documents, confirm the current fee with the Clerk of Courts before requesting the record.
Public access also has legal limits. Juvenile court files are not public except as allowed under 42 Pa.C.S. § 6307. Sealed and expunged criminal records are limited after a court order. Pennsylvania expungement eligibility is governed in part by 18 Pa.C.S. § 9122. Confidential identifiers and confidential documents must be handled under the UJS public access policy.

| UJS financial-record photocopy | $0.15 per page for 11 or more pages. |
| UJS financial-record CD | $5 each. |

| Sealed or expunged records | Public view limited by court order and state law. |
Armstrong County Clerk Boundaries
The Clerk of Courts should not be used for every record at the courthouse. Civil complaints, divorce decrees, custody-related civil filings, judgments, liens, and civil appeals belong with the Armstrong County Prothonotary. Estate files, wills admitted to probate, letters, short certificates, guardianship and adoption filings, and marriage duplicate certificates belong with the Register of Wills and Clerk of Orphans' Court. Land records and recorded documents route through the Recorder side of the Register and Recorder office.
For criminal users, the distinction is also between a docket and a full case file. UJS can show public docket sheets and many event entries. The Clerk of Courts is the office to contact when a person needs a certified document, a sentencing order, a plea record, a cost or restitution record, or clarification about a criminal file that does not appear online. If a matter is sealed, juvenile, expunged, or confidential, the office may not be able to release it to the general public.
Magisterial District Court records can also be part of the criminal path. Preliminary arraignment, complaint, preliminary hearing, summary offense, traffic, and lower-court warrant entries may remain tied to an MJ docket even when a related Common Pleas criminal case later opens. A careful request should identify whether the needed paper is held by the MDJ office, the Clerk of Courts, or both.
Note: PATCH is a state criminal-history portal, while the Clerk of Courts maintains the Armstrong County criminal court file.
